Humble Bee Institute of Marine Studies was founded in 2018 with a singular mission: to make quality maritime education accessible to aspiring seafarers from every corner of India, regardless of their economic background, linguistic limitations, or geographic isolation. Our founders recognised that while India has the world's third-largest seafarer workforce, thousands of young people with the potential to excel at sea were being left behind by conventional maritime training institutes that charged exorbitant fees, demanded prior qualifications beyond 10th standard, and offered no guarantee of employment after training.
HBIMS was established as a Section 8 not-for-profit company specifically to address these barriers. We designed the Seafarer Development Programme (SDP)™ from the ground up — a 6-month intensive residential programme that takes raw, ambitious young people and transforms them into confident, competent, and industry-ready seafarers. We chose Bawal, Haryana as our campus location for its strategic position on NH-8 (Delhi-Jaipur highway), accessible from both North and West India, with affordable living costs that allow us to keep our fees within reach of middle-class families.
Since our first batch in 2018, we have trained over 5,000 cadets from 22+ Indian states and placed every single graduate with reputed global shipping companies. Our 100% placement record is not a marketing claim — it is a documented, verifiable fact that reflects our deep industry relationships, our commitment to quality training, and our belief that every cadet who enters HBIMS deserves to sail.
