🎯 Our Placement Process
Day 1 — Sponsorship Letter: Every cadet receives a Sponsorship Letter from an assigned shipping company on the first day of training. This is not a promise — it is a binding commitment from the company to provide the cadet with their first onboard placement upon successful completion of training.
Month 5 — Mock Interviews: Cadets undergo at least 5 rounds of simulated shipping company interviews with our faculty and industry professionals. They practise answering technical questions, demonstrating seamanship skills, and presenting themselves professionally. CV preparation and interview etiquette training is included.
Month 6 — Final Placement: Shipping company representatives visit the HBIMS campus for final interviews and selection. Based on the cadet's performance, aptitude, and the company's requirements, cadets are matched with their first vessel assignment. The Placement Cell handles all documentation (INDOS, CDC, STCW certificates, joining papers) and logistics.
Post-Placement — Lifetime Support: Our relationship with cadets does not end at placement. HBIMS provides ongoing career guidance, promotion assistance, advanced course recommendations, and re-placement support for alumni returning from sea. Our alumni network spans 50+ countries and is growing every year.
