Every HBIMS certificate has a unique alphanumeric code following a standardised format. The format varies by certificate type:

What We Issue
Awarded upon successful completion of the 6-month Seafarer Development Programmeβ’. Certifies completion of academic, practical, physical fitness, and personality development modules. Includes the cadet's batch number, overall grade (Distinction/First Class/Second Class), and total training hours. Valid as proof of completion for shipping companies and crewing agencies.

IMO-mandated safety certificates including Personal Survival Techniques (PST), Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR), Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FPFF), and Elementary First Aid (EFA). Recognised in 170+ member nations of the International Maritime Organization. Essential for boarding any commercial vessel worldwide. Each certificate has its own unique serial number.

Indian National Database of Seafarers (INDOS) registration number issued by the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India. This is the unique permanent identification number for every Indian seafarer. Required for CDC issuance and all maritime employment. HBIMS facilitates the INDOS registration process for every enrolled cadet.

The CDC Book is the seafarer's official identity document β equivalent to a passport for the maritime world. It records every vessel served on, durations, ranks held, and discharge details. Issued by the flag state maritime administration. HBIMS assists cadets in obtaining their CDC through the proper channels, and our placement cell ensures every cadet has their CDC before their first sailing assignment.

Official letter from HBIMS confirming that the cadet is enrolled in the training programme and will be placed with a shipping company upon completion. Issued on Day 1 of training. This letter is required by many shipping companies as a prerequisite for onboard placement and visa processing. It confirms the shipping company's commitment to providing the cadet with their first vessel assignment.
Issued: Day 1 of Training
Issued upon successful completion of training, confirming the cadet's conduct, discipline record, and moral character during their tenure at HBIMS. Includes assessment of punctuality, teamwork, leadership qualities, and adherence to the Code of Conduct. Required by many shipping companies as part of the pre-employment screening process.

If you suspect that a certificate claiming to be issued by HBIMS is fraudulent, forged, or tampered with, please report it immediately. Fraudulent certificates endanger maritime safety and violate Indian Penal Code provisions on forgery (Sections 463β471 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita).

HBIMS verifies only certificates and documents issued by Humble Bee Institute of Marine Studies. We cannot verify STCW certificates issued directly by DG Shipping, CDC books issued by flag state administrations, or INDOS registrations β these must be verified through the respective issuing authorities. HBIMS certificates are supplementary to (not replacements for) statutory maritime certifications issued by government authorities.
